Record high lake level draws large crowd to Euclid’s Lakefront Erosion Information Meeting

The turnout for Euclid’s Erosion Information Meeting in Council Chambers exceeded our expectations. A recording of the meeting and the presentations are available to view online.

Thank you to the many Euclid residents and lakefront property owners from surrounding communities who joined City Officials on June 12th for an informational meeting on Lakefront Erosion.

At the meeting we learned that the Army Corps of Engineers measured Lake Erie’s water level 32”+ above the average for this time of year. Higher lake levels over time, increased rain events and the intensity of storms contribute to the catastrophic erosion people are experiencing. Tools including free technical assistance and Temporary Shore Structure permits were explained while the Euclid Waterfront Improvements Plan’s engineer and contractor provided examples of shoreline protection measures.
