Animal shelter update: "Dipstick" finds a new home

“Dipstick,” the Labrador-mix puppy whose photo appeared in the July issue of the Euclid Observer, no longer has to worry about her future. She has been adopted by a local family willing to provide a loving home.

Discovered hiding under a car at a local gas station, she apparently had been abandoned by her former owners. One of the shelter volunteers gave her the nickname Dipstick, which is what mechanics call the probe used to measure the oil level in automobile engines.

It is not known whether her new family will continue using the name Dipstick. But the important thing is that the lovable pup will finally get the love she deserves.

Shelter volunteers report that the July 16 car wash and bake sale was a big success, raising roughly $1,000 to support the local haven for homeless animals.

The next major fund-raiser will be the Euclid Pet Pals’ Clam Jam and Boo Bash dinner event scheduled for Oct. 28 at the Manor Party Center in Euclid. Tickets will go on sale sometime in September.

The Euclid Animal Shelter is located at 25100 Lakeland Boulevard, which runs alongside the Interstate 90 freeway. It is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evenings. To contact the shelter, phone (216) 289-2057 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays, or 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Or visit the Euclid Pet Pals’ website: www.euclidpetpals.net.
