Shelter offers half-price cat and kitten "sale"

For a limited time, the Euclid Animal Shelter will be conducting a half-price “sale” to help reduce its “inventory” of homeless cats and kittens. Presently, there are more than 20 cats “in stock,” including some in foster care. The shelter has space for just 12 cats.

During the sale, both cats and kittens will be offered to adoptive families for just $35, half of the normal $70 fee. The charge covers shots, de-worming, testing for feline leukemia, and spaying or neutering.

Adopters must be at least 18 years old; renters must show proof of landlord approval.

The Euclid Animal Shelter is located at 25100 Lakeland Boulevard, between Babbitt Road and East 260th Street. It is open to the public from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and on Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information, call the shelter at (216) 289-2057.

More Pet Notes:

Patti Burlingham, treasurer of Euclid Pet Pals, the volunteer group that supports the animal shelter, reports that the two dogs featured in the October Euclid Observer — Kobe and Trixie —have been adopted.

Another dog, Lucy, has been tested for hip dysplasia. The shelter is hoping to raise the $700 to $1,000 needed to cover the cost of corrective surgery. “Lucy has been adopted,” Burlingham notes, “but the new owner cannot afford the surgery.”

Anyone wishing to contribute toward the cost of Lucy’s surgery should contact the shelter at 289-2057.
