Rockabilly Fans Invade Sims Park

The Summer at Sims Concert Series, presented by the City of Euclid in association with the Beachland Ballroom and Tavern, got a little bit country and a lot rock and roll on July 31st. The unique amalgam of influences from both rock and roll and country, known as rockabilly, brought residents out in droves while enjoying the lakefront scenery, food trucks and of course, beer.

Opening for The Moxies, David Loy and Ramrods is a rockabilly group known to play both originals and covers. Described as a blues-based rock and roll fusion, residents were immediately drawn into David Loy’s powerful vocals.

The Moxies’ sound is a unique fusion of rockabilly garage rock with a gritty blues sensibility. The group draws influences from classical artists such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Etta James and modern artists such as Jack White, Cold War Kids and Cage the Elephant. Because their sound is shaped by decades of rock, the group had toes tapping across generations. Ranging from aggressively energetic to romantically charged even the stoniest cynic could not avoid a smile with The Moxies’ versatile performance.

The remaining date features the following musical talent:
