PetFix Northeast Ohio Offers $20 Surgeries for Dogs of Low-Income Owners

PetFix helps people spay or neuter their pets at prices they can afford.

Through a generous grant from PetSmart Charities, PetFix Northeast Ohio is currently offering spay or neuter surgery for dogs of low-income owners for only $20. Dog owners may take advantage of this special price by showing proof that someone in the household is currently receiving government assistance. This limited-time, subsidized price was created in an effort to proactively prevent pet homelessness in areas of the community without access to affordable veterinary services.

“I hear from pet owners every day that veterinary services are out of reach for them. They often must choose between buying food or medicine, paying the rent or utilities, and fixing their pet. These high quality, inexpensive surgeries will allow dog owners, to enjoy all the benefits and joys of having companion animals without worries of litters they can’t afford to care for,” said Christie Lucco, PetFix Executive Director. “PetFix is determined to help people who want to do the responsible thing for their pet, but who have limited resources and limited access to affordable pet care.”

PetFix Northeast Ohio is a non-profit organization that provides high quality, affordable spay and neuter surgeries to end pet homelessness and the need for unnecessary euthanasia. Since 2006, PetFix has performed over 67,000 surgeries for pet owners, rescues and shelters offering animals for adoption, and those caring for free-roaming cats. “By spaying and neutering these dogs at such affordable prices, we will be able to save thousands of dogs from ending up as strays or being needlessly euthanized because there aren’t enough homes," said Lucco.

The PetFix clinic is conveniently located just off I-90 at 885 E. 222nd Street in Euclid. To make an appointment, pet owners should call (216) 732-7040, Monday through Friday or visit www.petfixnortheastohio.org anytime.

PetSmart Charities aims to proactively prevent pet homelessness through increased spay and neuter efforts.  With the help of animal welfare partners, such as PetFix Northeast Ohio, PetSmart Charities has funded over 1.7 million spay and neuter surgeries in the U.S. since 2009.
