Picking An Exercise

In chiropractic we focus on getting our patients to be active and perform as many of their daily activities as possible. Many times people come in and they are looking to make pain go away so that they can begin to do more exercise.  Many times we get asked: what the best form of exercise?

Most people feel guilty that they don’t do enough running. There is so much more out there than just running! If your legs hurt when walking, you can try rowing or kayaking.  We have a beautiful lake and a great parks system.  If you feel your balance is poor try some paddle boarding.

If you hate running marathons, don’t do it! Have you ever talked to someone that said “I am glad I ran for 20 years even though I hated it”? Nope! Most people are shocked about that. There are some people can slip on their shoes and run like a gazelle. Others really enjoy swimming laps around a pool. There is a good chance that if those two people changed places, both would be miserable. Whether it is swimming, biking, running, yoga, exercise classes or playing a sport like soccer, pick something you like.

One of the hardest parts of exercising is putting your shoes on. If you are looking forward to the exercise that you picked, it’s easier to get those shoes on! Often times you wonder why you didn’t get started earlier. There are probably people who enjoy the same things you do. All you need to do is go find them.

Chiropractic helps with all sorts of injuries. If pain is preventing you from exercise, then we can help you. If you are having sharp pains or if you have pain that lasts more than two weeks, then it is probably time to get it checked out. Our office treats a variety of sports injuries.
