New Members of OLL Parish

Six New Members Preparing to Join Our Lady of the Lake Parish. Five children and one adult are preparing for Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist (Communion) on Holy Saturday, March 26, 2016.  Upon reception of those three “Sacraments of Initiation” these six persons will become full members of Our Lady of the Lake parish.

The five children -  Zinyah George, Catherine Long, Sedona Stankus, Brandon and Leila Johnson – are also students at Our Lady of the Lake School, and with the support of their parents and school, have asked to become Catholic.  They have been preparing since Fall, and are now in the final stages of their journey toward becoming Catholic.

Lan Chen, who was born and raised in China, is a young adult who, with the support and encouragement of her husband and sponsor, Jason Lemieux, has made a weekly commitment to participating in Mass with Jason, as well as weekly instruction sessions.  She has found her home away from home at Our Lady of the Lake parish.  She and Jason met while students at Kent State, and were wed at the parish in November of last year.

Rite of Sending & Rite of Acceptance

As part of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), the children and Lan were prayerfully sent by the parish (“Rite of Sending”)  to Bishop Lennon for the Rite of Acceptance on Sunday, February 14.   Following the signing of the “Book of the Elect,” the group traveled to St. John Cathedral. Bishop Lennon, due to his recent health concerns, was not able to celebrate the Rite of Acceptance, but Fr. Michael Woost represented the Bishop at the

All are welcome to celebrate with the parish on Saturday, March 26, 2016 beginning at 9:00 pm, when these six persons will be baptized, confirmed and celebrate their first reception of the Eucharist (Communion).
