New location at Sims Park Beach and Pier and fun activities added. Euclid’s newest addition to its lakefront, the new Pier at Sims Park, will be center stage at the Wind Festival on June 14th from 4:00- 9:00 pm. Sims Park, located at 22131 Lakeshore Boulevard in downtown Euclid, boasts a large beach, spacious grassy areas with a Disc Golf course, the historic Henn Mansion and a new fishing pier.

The Wind Festival moved to the waterfront this year to accommodate exciting new attractions. Previously, Wind Festival event partner, Shore Cultural Centre hosted the event.  Additional event partners, the City of Euclid and the Euclid Chamber of Commerce teamed up with Shore Cultural Centre and professional event planner Wizard of Ahs, to expand the Wind Festival.

Visitors to the Wind Festival this year will enjoy tethered hot air balloon rides, a kite making station, children’s activities and crafts, great food, a beer tent and more. Event sponsor, Euclid Hospital, will have staff on hand to conduct health screenings and provide healthy cooking and living tips. Courtesy of the additional Event Sponsors Wm. Sopko & Sons Co., Inc. and CT Consultants, as well as Hot Air Balloon Sponsor, Lincoln Electric, and other generous sponsors such as K&D Management, LLC and Ss. Robert & William Parish, Euclid Apartments, families can enjoy many free activities. These include the Rise Above BMX Bike Show, a concert on the beach featuring local band Pieces of Eight, simulated windsurfing demos, RC Planes and much more.

A shuttle bus will also offer round trip tours from 5:00-7:00 pm to the Lincoln Electric wind turbine and the Wm. Sopko and Sons Co., Inc. wind turbines. Experts from Lincoln Electric and Case Western Reserve University will be on site to guide the tours.

The Wind Festival is supported in part by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.  For additional information on the 2014 Euclid Wind Festival, please visit www.shoreculturalcentre.com or call 216-289-8578.
