Ss. Robert and William's Taste of Nations

Miss Elizabeth Edwards, Art Teacher at SRW School works with students on raffle items for Taste of Nations

On Saturday, April 5, 2014, over 300 guests will gather at Ss. Robert & William Parish to taste foods from seven different countries.  Additionally, the first “Taste of Nation’s Award” will be presented to Mayor Bill Cervenik and Euclid’s Administration for their commitment to unity and diversity.

“Mayor Cervenik and his team of leaders work diligently for each and every member of this community,” states Fr. John D. Betters, Pastor of SRW Parish.  He continues, “They also have supported the mission of our parish, especially in our outreach efforts.  Several members have even served as Celebrity Chefs at our free, monthly community meal.”

Cuisines from Eastern Europe, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latin America, Middle East, and the Philippines will be the main feature of this year’s, “Taste of Nations” dinner.  The school’s classrooms will be transformed into each of these countries, where taste-sized portions will be served to the guests.  The ethnic fare will highlight items such as stuffed cabbage, pierogis, cabbage and noodles, corned beef sandwiches and so much more.  The newest rooms include a French Bakery and The Vienna Café where coffee and ethnic pastries will round out the menu.

The evening will begin with a Polka Mass at 4:00 p.m. where music will be provided by The Joey Tomsick Orchestra.  Doors to the school will open at 5:00 p.m. and the dinner journey will begin at 5:45 p.m.  The orchestra will continue playing and guests may also bid on Chinese Auction prizes.

Additionally, Ms. Elizabeth Edwards, Art Teacher, and her students are providing items for a fun auction.  They have spent weeks repurposing vintage items and transforming them into useable ‘chalkboards’ that will be bid on.  According to Edwards, “These are unique, one-of-a-kind treasures that can be placed anywhere.”

The following morning, Sunday, April 6th, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the “Taste of Nation’s Breakfast” will be served.  Begin your day with crepes, an omelet station, pancakes, coffee and orange juice.

Dinner Passports (Tickets) are $50 per person for this adult only event.  All seating is in the main dining room.  Breakfast Passports are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
