Euclid Schools offer tours of Elementary Schools

As most are aware, the Euclid City School District is building four new elementary schools that are scheduled to open in fall 2012. The state-of-the-art schools are co-financed by the State of Ohio through the Ohio School Facilities Commission that is funded with tobacco settlement money.

Though they are not finished yet, the District is offering tours of the new schools on two consecutive Saturdays per the schedule below:

Chardon Hills (on the former Glenbrook property)           May 5     9 – 11 a.m.

Arbor (on the site of Roosevelt School)                           May 5     noon – 2 p.m.

Shoreview (on the site of Upson School)                         May 12   9 – 11 a.m.

Bluestone (on the site of Thomas Jefferson)                    May 12   noon – 2 p.m.

Once the new schools are open, community tours and ribbon cutting ceremonies will be held so the public can see the finished products. Look for announcements about those ceremonies in the months ahead.

On the same schedule established for the new school tours in May, the public may take a nostalgic walk through Roosevelt (May 5), Upson (May 12), and Thomas Jefferson (May 12.) Or community members may want to participate in celebratory open houses at our current schools per the schedule below:

                Upson                              May 9                   6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

                Lincoln                            May 11                  5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

                Roosevelt (tour)               May 17                  9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

                Indian Hills                      May 22                  6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

                Roosevelt (open house)    May 24                  4:00 – 8:00 p.m.

                Thomas Jefferson             May 24                  4:00 – 7:00 p.m.

We look forward to sharing this great opportunity with all who wish to see up close the history and the future of the district represented in our old and new buildings.

Joffrey Jones is the Superintendent of Euclid City Schools.
