  • STILL AT THE CONTROLS – Paul Serra, who compiled a near-legendary career as Euclid High School’s baseball coach, retired from that position a number of years ago, but he continues to stay involved with the Panther sports teams. Here, he is manning the scoreboard controls during the recent Euclid-VASJ basketball game. During his career as baseball coach, Serra’s teams won more than 400 games. After his retirement, Memorial Park Diamond No. 1 was renamed “Serra Field” in his honor.
  • “LET’S GO, VIKINGS!” – The Villa Angela-St. Joseph cheerleaders helped to energize the VASJ players—and fans—during the see-saw contest against the Euclid Panthers.
  • COACH BABE KWASNIAK appears to be anxiously awaiting the opening tipoff of his first game as head coach of the VASJ Vikings. Despite a valiant effort, his cagers lost a nail-biter to the Panthers, 55-54, on a last-second three-point shot. (Photo by John Sheridan).
  • “WHAT DO WE DO NOW?” – The Vikings’ Mel Burke Jr. (No. 11) seems perplexed as his teammates huddle with Coach Babe Kwasniak (left center).
  • TENSE MOMENT – Anxious VASJ fans follow the action during the Euclid-VASJ basketball game on Dec. 4. The Panthers won in a wild finish, 55-54.
  • THE PANTHER BENCH keeps close tabs on the action during Euclid’s home opener Dec. 4 against neighborhood rival VASJ.
