St. John of the Cross Homecoming

St. John of the Cross is planning a Homecoming Day of Celebration on Saturday, June 22. This reunion-themed event will take place from 4 until 11 pm and will include Mass, an outdoor concert, raffles, family games and of course, plenty of great food.  We are inviting former parishioners from St. Felicitas, St. Paul, and St. John of the Cross to join in this celebration.

St. John of the Cross Easter Vigil Mass

St. John of the Cross marked the beginning of Easter with its Easter Vigil Mass Saturday evening, April 20.  The first part of the vigil included the blessing of fire and the preparation of the paschal candle. Following the singing of the Easter Proclamation, the second part of the vigil featured readings from the Old and New Testament. The Baptismal Liturgy followed the homily in which two new members were received into the Catholic Church. The final part of the vigil was the Liturgy of the Eucharist where the newly baptized received the Lord in the Eucharist for the first time.

St. John of the Cross May Crowning

Join us for The Crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary at St. John of the Cross Parish Saturday, May 18 at 10:00 am.  As part of the ceremony, Sister Mary Kathleen Glavich, SND, an award-winning author will deliver a talk titled “In the Footsteps of the Blessed Mother”. Sister was the editor of the Christ Our Life religion series used at St. Felicitas. She has written more than eighty books. Her titles include Heart to Heart with Mary: A Yearly Devotional, The Catholic Companion to Mary, Praying on Empty, and a novel, The Fisherman’s Wife, the Gospel According to St. Peter’s Spouse. Sister Kathleen taught every grade from first to twelfth. She also served as co-director of the Diocesan Vocation Office for two years and as a pastoral associate at St. Dominic Church. Three times she spoke at conferences in Dubai and Oman. In her spare time, Sister enjoys playing the piano and crocheting baby blankets. She blogs at www.kathleenglavich.org. Her books will be available for purchasing.  Light refreshments will be served at the end of the May Crowning.

St. John of the Cross Couple's Night Out

St. John of the Cross hosted a Couple's Night Out in February. Post Cana Couple's Night was a great night for all! Almost 40 couples from Ss. Robert & William and & St. John of the Cross came together for a delicious meal, great talk by Fr. Dan Schlegel and then dancing.
