Set Your Inner Artist Free at Soo Crafty Creations

Angela invites you to make something new at Soo Crafty Creations located at Shore Cultural Centre.

“Oh, I could never make that. I'm not an artist!” Angela Hulett would respond “Oh YES you are!”

Angela is the owner/instructor at Soo Crafty Creations, a hands-on art studio which calls Shore Cultural Centre home. During her years as an activities assistant, Angela found that her class participants often reminisced about their lives and experiences while working with their hands. This time spent creating and sharing stories became a therapeutic part of the creative process for many, and Angela places a high value on the social connections that form during these classes.

In Angela's view, creating art is a rewarding and enjoyable process which is not all about the final product. Her focus, she says, “is to help her students feel more confident by expressing themselves creatively through art.” She encourages her students to try something new without fear and judgment. Patience is one of her strong attributes as a teacher, and at some point Angela would like to return to her studies to become an art therapist.

Starting in September, Soo Crafty Creations will be offering new class sessions at Shore. Here are just a few of the many classes Angela has planned for this fall: No-Sew Bandana Heart Pillow on September 7 from 1 – 3 pm suitable for children through adults or Macrame Feather Wall Hanging on September 21 from 1 – 3 pm suitable for teens and adults. Crochet is back big time and Angela will be teaching the basics in her Crochet for Beginners: Single Stitch on October 20 from 12:30 – 3:00 pm.

Angela can take Soo Crafty Creations on the road and offers Bead Party Packages for small groups and corporate/employee events. To arrange a private event, contact her at soocraftycreations@gmail.com.
