Care For Caregivers

Today, so many people are working hard to keep their aging and/or ill loved ones at home.  It is at once a selfless act of love and an exhausting undertaking.  Ss. Robert and William Parish has committed to walking with these men and women by sponsoring a monthly Caregivers Support Group.  On the third Saturday morning of the month, they meet to pray, share stories, and get good advice on how to better negotiate the difficult terrain of caregiving.  (Please note that meetings are also open to those who have a loved one in healthcare facilities.  Sometimes circumstances make it impossible to care for someone at home and many people make daily visits to nursing homes, performing tasks that let the patient know they are remembered and valued by their family.)  Guest presenters have included people from the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging, an elder law expert, and even a music therapist.  There is a lot of great advice out there but sometimes all that is needed is a break from the daily routine in a relaxed environment with others who understand what you are going through.  Meetings are from 10:30 AM until Noon and are open to parishioners and non-parishioners alike.  The cost is free but we do ask that you call ahead to allow us to prepare materials when needed.  For more information call Renée Barber at 216-731-1515 Ext. 262.
