Mount St. Joseph Awarded Five Stars

On July 18, 2017 the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded Mount St. Joseph Rehab Facility with a Five-Star Quality Rating. This ranking is the federal government’s highest possible quality rating for nursing homes.

The CMS created the Five Star Quality Rating System to help consumers compare nursing homes more easily. Each nursing home receives a rating of between 1 and 5 stars.  Nursing homes with 5 stars are considered to provide above average quality care, and nursing homes with 1 star are considered to have quality much below average. The rating is derived from an annual inspection, where State of Ohio surveyors go onsite to the nursing home and evaluate health care, staffing levels, and quality measures. These quality measures offer information about how well nursing homes are caring for their residents’ needs.

There are nearly 1,000 nursing home facilities in Ohio, and just 17% have been awarded with this prestigious 5-Star rating.

Located at 21800 Chardon Road in Euclid, Mount St. Joseph Rehab Center is an independent, not-for-profit, faith-based facility that follows a holistic approach encompassing the mind, body and spirit of each individual. Mount St. Joseph Rehab Center is a 99-bed facility with five neighborhoods. Four of the neighborhoods are devoted to long-term care, while one group of 19 beds is dedicated to housing those needing short-term rehabilitative care. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and restorative nursing are all available at the Center. Outpatient care is also available.

Mount St. Joseph was founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Mark in 1942. In 2012, a new state-of-the facility was built to provide residents with superior care in a beautiful and tranquil setting.
