Message from the Mayor

Many thanks to all who helped make the Euclid Wind Fest possible – especially Shore Cultural Centre, Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, and our many corporate and community sponsors.  It was a great celebration of what makes Euclid unique.  I had the opportunity to be a tour guide for one of the Lolly the Trolley tours at the Wind Fest.  While the objective was to showcase and learn about the wind turbines at Sopko/ STAMCO – the tour provided a brief look around Euclid including what we have to offer and projects underway.  During my tour, more than half the group was not from Euclid and the responses I received at the end of the tour were that all were impressed with the projects underway, the improvements made and the unique housing stock and community assets we have in Euclid.  That is not the Euclid they see in the media or maybe the perception they have.  I am proud of our City and there are many initiatives underway that are making people take a new look at Euclid.  Help us spread the word and pride– whether through conversations with folks, social media, or other networking.

July 4th for me includes a neighborhood celebration complete with parade, picnic, games and families gathering.  I am also fortunate to join other neighborhood/ street associations for their events on the 4th and throughout the summer.  I am always impressed by the participation, comradery, and pride in these neighborhoods.  Building strong neighborhoods is critical to our community success and the City Hall is committed to supporting those efforts.  If you want to learn more, please call my office (289-2751) or your councilperson.

I hope to see you at our concerts at Sims Park this summer.  Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the music, food, beautiful lake views and company of neighbors.  They will be:

  • Thursday, July 13th  from 6-9 pm:  Wreck’n (Country)

  • Thursday, July 27th from 6-9pm: The Benjaminz (R & B, Motown)

  • Thursday, August 10th from 6-9pm: Chardon Polka Band

  • Thursday, August 24th from 6-9pm: Rubix Cubed (80’s music)

Want to see some beautiful ponds, gardens and landscaping here in Euclid?  Join me for the Euclid Shade Tree Commissions’ Annual Pond and Garden Tour 7/14, 7/15, and 7/16.  This year, participating restaurants will provide discounts on Saturday 7/15.  This is a new partnership!  See www.cityofeuclid.com for more information and how to get tickets – you will be impressed!

Don’t forget to take some photos to share – capture that spectacular sunset, sporting event, flowers, community asset, friend or family member.  Submit them to the 2017 “This is Euclid” photo contest held as part of our Art Walk to thisiseuclid.oh@gmail.com or #thisiseuclid on Instagram or Facebook.  For more information on the Art Walk and Photo contest, see www.cityofeuclid.com.

Enjoy the summer, I hope to see you around the neighborhood and at these wonderful events!
