HGR Supports STEM Education with 2016 HGR Industrial Surplus STEM Scholarship

Euclid, Ohio, March 18, 2016 -- HGR Industrial Surplus Inc is supporting STEM education by awarding an annual $2,000 scholarship to a local high school senior planning to pursue a degree or certificate in a STEM field.

The 2016 HGR Industrial Surplus STEM Scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior in good academic standing who is active or interested in any facet of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math).

The student must also have applied to an institution of higher education to pursue a degree or certification in the field. This includes – but is not limited to – the fields of engineering, engineering technology, electrical, mechanical, welding, manufacturing, or construction. Financial need will also be considered during the selection process.

This year, one student from Euclid High School will be awarded the $2,000 scholarship as part of HGR’s support of STEM education on a local level. The company has also co-sponsored the school’s Alliance for Working Together RoboBot team, donated equipment and furnishings for the school’s science labs and encouraged local businesses to add their support.

The scholarship application form must be completed on the HGR website at https://www.hgrinc.com/stem-scholarship/ by April 15. On that site, students can also upload the required documentation, including a minimum of one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, coach, employer or mentor.

Winner of this year's scholarship will be announced at the Euclid High School Academic Achievement Banquet, which will be held at 5:30 p.m. May 5 at Tizzano’s Party Center.
