It was an honor for principals Ms. Meg Cosgriff and Mrs. Martha Dodd to welcome Mr. Chris Knight to Ss. Robert and William School in November. Mr. Knight is the new Superintendent of the Office of the Secretary for Catechetical Formation and Education in the Diocese of Cleveland. SRW was the host site for a dinner meeting for all the Catholic elementary principals that serve in the eastern region. It was invigorating to have the opportunity to meet with Mr. Knight to share our vision for Catholic education and to brainstorm for the future.
In response to our mission and commitment to academic excellence, Ss. Robert & William Catholic School provided Chromebooks to every student in grades 4-8. This 1:1 initiative, together with the utilization of the Google Classroom, provides students with an authentic 21st century learning experience.
Please join us on Sunday, January 8th at 12:30 pm in the church for our Epiphany Anniversary Concert. The Music Ministry of our parish will showcase seasonal music selections in celebration of Ss. Robert & William's seven-year anniversary.
Junior High religion teacher, Patrice Garuckas, from Ss. Robert and William Catholic School was selected from a large pool of applicants from across the country to participate in an intensive week of study in Washington, D.C. this past July. The program called the Eileen Ludwig Greenland National Bearing Witness Institute was started in 1995. The purpose of the program is to train teachers about the impact of the Holocaust, the history and resurgence of Anti-Semitism, the relationship between the Jews and the Catholics, and ways to combat prejudice and bigotry in the modern world. This nationally renowned program is sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League, the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the National Catholic Educational Association, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and Georgetown University. Forty Catholic school educators were chosen for this program based upon their applications, essays, and recommendations. Their week-long endeavor included studies and trips to the United States Holocaust Museum, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Washington Hebrew Congregation, the Israeli Embassy, the Romanian Embassy, and Georgetown University.
Boy scouts working toward the rank of Eagle Scout must do what is called an Eagle Scout Service Project. These service projects must benefit an organization other than the Boy Scouts. Often local churches or community groups are the beneficiary. David Paus a senior at Villa Angela- St. Joseph H.S. and a member of Troop 54 at Ss. Robert & Willam Parish chose for his project to make paliative care blankets for cardiac patients at University Hospitals of Cleveland.
Ss. Robert and William Catholic Parish celebrated its sixth successful, but rainy International Family Festival August 11-14 in Euclid.
Join neighbors and friends at the sixth annual International Family Festival at Ss. Robert & William Catholic Church, 367 E. 260th St., Euclid, August 11-14.
The atmosphere here in Cleveland is electric! We are now the city of champions (thanks Cavs), and Cleveland has shown how well it can celebrate a very meaningful and well deserved victory. The 'Cleveland Curse' is over! What great joy began for Cleveland when the buzzer brought that 52-year drought to an end. Moses led the Israelites through an arid desert for 40 years...Cleveland, we can relate.
Two separate stages (one is air-conditioned) will allow a wider variety of bands to play at the 6th annual International Family Festival, August 11 through 14, at Ss. Robert and William Catholic Church in Euclid.
During the week of June 20-24, approximately 70 children gathered at Ss. Robert & William for their annual Vacation Bible School Program.
Ss Robert & Williams’ Catholic School may have some future Cleveland Cavaliers on their hands! Their 6th grade boy’s basketball team has had a “stellar” year posting a very impressive 22-0 season record in the Greater Cleveland Catholic Diocese CYO League respectively. Maybe its due to the fact that most of these boys have been playing together since before the 4th grade, or that their coaching staff (made up by John Pavlica, Brian Dunmire and Marcia Clarke) is passionate about this sport and take the time to teach these young men the strategies necessary to succeed and help them realize their individual potential and God given talents. Not only do they hold the “undefeated” status for the past 2 regular seasons, but these talented sportsmen have also earned themselves the following championship titles for the 2015/16 season:

It has been a busy winter at Ss. Robert and William Catholic School! In addition to the rigors of the everyday curriculum, many students participate in extra-curricular clubs and organized sports. Our mission supports the belief that each student is a child of God with unique physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual needs. The administrators and teachers take this charge seriously and dedicate many hours offering enriching opportunities to our students. We are so proud of the many accomplishments these students have recently achieved:
If you love homemade ethnic food, why don’t you join us at our annual Taste of Nations Gala, which is being held on Saturday, April 23, 2016? The evening will begin with a Polka Mass (The Joey Tomsick Orchestra is providing the music), followed by dinner at 5:45 p.m. (Doors open at 5:00 p.m.) This is a wonderful opportunity for guests to experience many different international cuisines representing those of Eastern Europe, Germany, the Philippines, Latin America, Mexico, Ireland, and Italy. Our parishioners have been preparing and making items to be served in these food rooms. One can also relax at the Cigar Lounge and the Vienna Café.
The students and staff of Ss. Robert and William Catholic School collected food and donations for the Euclid Hunger Center during Lent. A picture of a little boy sitting at a large empty table was placed on the cafeteria wall of the school. Every day as the students ate, they were reminded about how many boys and girls go without enough food each day. This visual reminder served as an inspiration to bring in food donations for the Euclid Hunger Center. Each student who brought in food or a cash donation signed a paper can to be taped onto the little boy’s table. Filling the table represented the good that our donations will do in feeding the hungry of our community. Our goal was one item per student. We are happy to say that we far surpassed that goal!
In November, Girl Scout Troops 987, 1570, 493, and 1022, under the direction of Diane and Dave Radachy, Laurie Waganek, and Jamie Zalar collected perishable food items and cash donations from parishioners and friends of SRW. They presented a number of large boxes of food and $1,000 to the Euclid Hunger Center. Mrs. Diane Radachy, a troop leader, had this to say of their charitable work, "We are so grateful and feel so blessed to be a part of such a giving community. We would like to give an exuberant thank you to everyone who donated to our food drive for this cause."
Euclid LifeTeen/Edge hosted "Donuts with Santa," in December. Not only is this a wonderful holiday tradition, it also serves as a fun, intergenerational event.
