Takahata Talk

I teach Bible Stories to 4-5 year olds.  It is a striking honor as their young minds are now able to receive holy thoughts.  God has set the stage for them.  Their slates are untarnished. They are not yet skeptical.  Why, even their honesty is refreshing!

“Why are you old?”

I always answer the same way.

“I have to be old.  I am a grandmother.  But, my hugs are plentiful!”

A huge smile rockets across my face.  Their own eager smiles rocket back to me.  Smiles are contagious, aren’t they?  They will understand more in time.

It is a delightful hour.  The children’s delight in learning about Jesus walking on the water, and my delight in teaching about this miracle blossoms into a double delight of spiritual sharing for all.  And, the connection is so real!

How can this be?  Has God set the stage for this granny, too?

Publishers note: This is the second in a series by a wonderful local author. She is an American of Japanese descent born in Hawaii during World War II.
