Euclid Alumni News

James Tusoch, Euclid High School Class of 2004, received The Distinguished Marketing and Sales Award for 2020 and was recognized recently with other award winners at WKYC Cleveland Studios.

I just had another great meal at the Euclid Culinary Bistro at Shore Cultural Centre at our Wednesday Alumni Table and I'm always amazed at the lack of customers at this local, low-cost, high value facility right here in downtown Euclid. Open when school is in session (Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), these students from Euclid, Mentor and Wickliffe High Schools put together great sides, salads and entrees for virtually nothing. Come out and support our local students and the culinary program at Euclid High School while you can at old Shore, because the program will move back to the high school next fall.

James Tusoch '04, recently received the Distinguished Marketing and Sales Award, which acknowledges excellence and provides community recognition for outstanding sales and marketing achievements. Selection criteria is based on the demonstration of the highest business, professional and ethical standards. Congratulations James!

Old Central Junior High School, now a middle school, will cease operations at the end of this school year, as the new middle school at the Euclid High campus is scheduled to be completed for next school year. Look here for information about an informal open house for former students and interested citizens to make one last walk through before the property is handed over to the Cleveland MetroParks.

Euclid Alumni Skate Night at C.E. Orr Arena is scheduled for Saturday March 23rd. $5 for entry, skate rental is free if you wear your high school colors (Euclid: Blue and Gold, Central: Red and White or Shore: Green and White).

The Euclid Schools Distinguished Achievement Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 23rd, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m at the Euclid Lakefront Community Center. Please join us to honor the inductees and celebrate the "products" of the Euclid City Schools education!

The Annual Membership Meeting is schedule for Saturday, April 25th from 10:00 a.m. to noon in the Little Theater. The meeting won't be that long, but will be followed by another sorting of memorabilia, so for annual and lifetime members, we hope to see you there. For information on this and other events, follow us on Facebook or visit our webpage at euclidalumni.org.

We continue to seek members and leadership for the famed Euclid Alumni Band. The Alumni Band is a great opportunity to maintain your musical chops, while supporting the link between the Euclid Schools, its alumni and the community. The Alumni Office is looking at ways to support the Band now and into the future, so please contact us if you're interested.

Remember to save the date and keep your eye on our Facebook page and website for the May 30th alumni event at Euclid High School. This event will allow past and present students and community members to see the new sections of the high school and parts of the school scheduled for demolition during summer break.

If you've read this far, here's the answer to last month's trivia question: Which business(es) or organziation(s), that advertised in the 1950 Euclidian yearbook, are still in business today? Answer: Ajax Manufacturing, Euclid Heat Treating, Chesterfield Steel and the Euclid Veterans Club. There were no correct answers submitted for last month's question.

This months question: What was the name of the iguana housed at Shore Junior High School in the late 1970s? The first respondent via e-mail (alumni@euclidschools.org) with the correct answer will win an annual Alumni Association membership (valued at $10). Please keep in touch via e-mail, alumni@euclidschools.org or by phone (216) 797-7895 and Go Panthers!
