Bountiful Blessings! School and Parish Respond with Generosity to Food Pantry.

Sixth Graders carrying over Food Pantry items

donated by students.

Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!

Our Lady of the Lake School students and their families responded in great measure to the annual food drive to donate to the Parish pantry for the holidays!   In response to requests to fill the pantry in order to fill holiday baskets, students provided the much needed staples for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner including boxed stuffing and potato mixes, gravy, vegetables, soups, canned goods.  Also, the sixth graders also helped carry the groceries over to the rectory.

In addition, the third graders who sold apple products at the school Stem showcase, used those monies to purchase apple products to donate to the pantry.  These students brought their apple groceries over to the pantry as well.

OLL parishioners also responded to the call for Food Pantry donations.  Dropping off items at the rectory, some even bringing in an extra turkey to donate!

The Neighbor to Neighbor ministry uses these grocery items for both Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets.  The Giving Tree, which was put up the last week of November, provides the gifts that go with the grocery items for Christmas baskets.  The Angels on the tree, when taken,  include a label with a needed item.  Presents are then brought unwrapped to the parish office in a gift bag. The elves from the Neighbor to Neighbor ministry work hard putting the Christmas baskets together with groceries and gift items.  Baskets are then given to those in need who have requested help and live within the parish area.

The Neighbor to Neighbor ministry also receives donations from generous parishioners who donate using their collection envelope.  These donations help them afford items during the holiday season and throughout the year as well.
