YOU Can Do It!

YOU employees (from left) DeWitt, La'Tianna, Tyree and La'Mia pose in front of one of the many improvement projects they completed this summer throughout Euclid.

The City of Euclid was fortunate to have four outstanding youth join its staff this summer through the federal Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU) employment program.  Collectively, these Euclid young people contributed over 500 hours of service over the six week period.

Under supervision by members of the Department of Planning and Development, the Euclid YOU crew spent their time working outside to beautify the City.  Tasks included trash pick-up, vacant lot clean-up, and spreading mulch around trees and flower beds.  The effort concluded with the installation of a landscaping border around the Euclid vs Ambler Realty historical marker using repurposed stones from the City's lakefront project.

Throughout the program, the YOU employees received work-place guidance and encouragement from YOU job coach Kimberly Moss.

The YOU employees were recognized by Mayor Kirsten Holzheimer Gail at the City Council meeting on August 19th for their hard work, dedication and positive contribution to the City of Euclid.
