News from Euclid Hunger Center

Our EHC volunteers worked hard at the August Mobile Pantry/Produce Distribution.

MOBILE PANTRIES

On Monday, August 26, EHC hosted its second of three Mobile Pantries at Shore Cultural Centre.  Lots of free fresh produce was distributed to over 110 people.  All are invited to come to the third and final produce distribution which will take place on Monday, September 23, from 4:00-6:00 pm.  Please bring a photo I.D. with you and large shopping bags.

KICK OFF SUMMER

It may have been raining all day, but that didn't dampen the spirits for the over 150 people who attended our 8th annual Kick off Summer event at the Briardale Greens Pavilion on June 20th.  Despite the soggy conditions, attendees still enjoyed a delicious dinner served up by many of our Hunger Center volunteers and Board members.  Many also left with gift baskets donated by the great schools, businesses and organizations in our community.  Special thanks to our event sponsors: Euclid Firefighters Local 337 - Euclid Hospital - Eaton Family Credit Union - Drs. Rick and Betty Kozan - Pat and Cindy Gallagher.  We appreciate everyone's support.

FOOD DRIVES

This summer was particularly busy at EHC, and we served a total of 1,950 families, which translates to about 4,788 people.  As a result, our shelves are looking particularly empty.  We could really use donations of canned fruits, vegetables and tuna, as well as cereal.  If your business or organization would like to host a food drive to collect these items, no need to wait for the holidays.  We are happy to help you organize a food drive now.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Helpers are needed to pick up food donations from local grocery stores on Thursday and Friday mornings.  Drive once a week or once a month - we can work with your schedule. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.  Perfect opportunity for recent retirees, local college students, or second shift workers.   For questions about volunteer opportunities, or any other Hunger Center events, please contact Kay at 216-731-3329 or euclidhungercenter@gmail.com
