A Glimpse into the Stars

What is Astrology?   Many people imagine they know the answer to this question. A curiosity leap may lead some to associate this art with fortune telling or wishful thinking at best.  Others try to debunk it once and for all.

A strange thing happens in many cases.     First, as they begin to investigate past the contemporary popular facade surrounding astrology, they find a very complex, fascinating and serious discipline which has existed for millennia and has some form of serious expression in all major cultures of the world since their begins.  Then they begin to discover a point of view of being able to predict future events.  While an extremely competent astrologer may be able to do this, prediction of the future is not at all what astrology is for and never has been. There is historical evidence it has been used in this manner along with other disciplines in order to sustain a "people" through their sojourn to and through modernity.  For example, in the country of India, there are people who make  quite a good living casting and interpreting what are     known as Sidereal charts.

This writing is to help set the contemporary record somewhat straight and to introduce to our greater Cleveland area, a source and means by which those who are seriously interested can easily enter the study of astrology.  My aim each month is to write what I hope to be interesting essays and commentary on events, social, political, economic, psychological, cultural and spiritual from the unique perspective of astrology.  From time to time the usual popular fare of Sun Sign forecast for a particular month of interest may be presented.   However, the real purpose here is to contribute to the serious study and rehabilitation of astrology, an ancient scientific art,  as we move through the 21st Century.  And, to present astrology as a viable method of psycho-spiritual development and natural human transformation which in my opinion it has been all along if not having always been used in this light.

In the months ahead, as we begin to grow, we intend to provide many fascinating and unique experiences to engage mental, emotional and spiritual thoughts towards human development as we glimpse into the stars.  Saturday afternoon astrology classes are held once a month with a focus on specific aspects of chart delineation. Time is 1pm to 2:30 pm.   The fee is $10 per class.  All beginner through advanced students are welcome.  Upcoming classes are August    and September    .   A 9 Week class also begins in October at the Rishis Institute of Metaphysics, 21933 Euclid Avenue, Euclid 44117.
