Waterloo Wall of Love

The Waterloo Arts District is feeling the love this winter, and wants to share with the community. At the end of February, a group came together to put up a Wall of Love at Waterloo near E. 160th St, to share warm winter hats, gloves, scarves and more with anyone in the neighborhood who needs them. The owners of the Waterloo Sculpture Garden, Sarah and Kurt Gyorki, worked with resident Allison Lukacsy-Love and Walls of Love organizer Holly Jackson to make the project happen. Waterloo has a history of being an engaged community, with arts district stakeholders organizing many community-oriented events each year, including the Waterloo Arts Fest and many more, so coming together to help each other through these cold winter months seemed like a natural way for this active arts district to continue supportings its neighbors. Members of the community are invited to contribute more items, or take what they need, and the wall will stay in place for as long as the weather stays cold.
