St. John of the Cross Presents Summer Wellness and Concert Series
Come to the St. John of the Cross Parish Campus, 140 Richmond Road in Euclid for a free series of summer events open to the entire community! Our mission is to share our God-given gifts, embrace our diversity and engage in social outreach, service and education. We invite you to join our parish family for these personally helpful and spiritually uplifting events:
Summer Wellness Series
June: Spiritual Wellness – Tuesday, June 19, 7 pm: “Spiritual Training Camp” with Elvis Grbac
Join this former NFL quarterback who has recommitted his life to Christ for a discussion on how spiritual discipline is just as important as physical and mental discipline. The event will be held in the church. This is the perfect Father’s Day gift!
July: Mental Wellness – Saturday, July 21, 9 am: ”The Giving Factor”
Join our Pastoral Associate and parish ministries for a presentation and discussion on how helping others can improve our own mental health by feeling needed by and connected to the community we are serving. We will also talk about Companion ministries where people who have been through tough situations (i.e., losing a loved one, coping with cancer, surviving abuse, etc.) can help those who are just beginning to travel down these difficult roads. This free event will be held in the Parish Community Center and refreshments and resources will be provided.
August: Physical Wellness –
Saturday, August 11, 9 am: ”Prayer Walk”
Take a walk around the scenic and peaceful grounds of the SJOC campus for a spiritual journey of prayer while getting your heart pumping. We’ll meet in the Gathering Area of the church and the walk will take about an hour, so wear comfortable shoes.
Tuesday, August 14, 9 am: ”Staying Active” with Kathy Brown (certified low-impact aerobic instructor)
This 45-minute gentle exercise and stretching routine that you can do at home, is geared toward older adults. This fun and lively class will help you improve muscle tone, maintain joint flexibility, and prevent injury. The class is free and open to all ages and will be held in the Sacred Heart Room of the church.
Thursday, August 23, 6:30 pm: ”Bocce with the Sister”
Join us for Mass at 6:30 pm, then play along or watch the Bocce tournament at our Bocce Court with the Mercedarian Sisters and the SJOC League.
Summer Concert Series @ Celebration Plaza
Saturday, June 16, 5:30 pm: “God Bless America”
Saturday, July 21, 5:30 pm: “Sacred Classics”
Saturday, August 18, 5:30 pm: “Light Pop Rock” with the band, Ulterior Motive
All concerts will be performed by members of our choir in the outdoor plaza at the front entrance to the church and will include complementary refreshments. Your free-will offering is appreciated. If the weather is poor, we will move the performance into the Gathering Area of the church.
Summer Outdoor Masses
Join us during the summer for Outdoor Mass at our Shrine, every Sunday morning at 7:30 am beginning June 3 and ending Sept. 2, weather permitting.

St. John of the Cross Parish We are the Catholic Community of St. John of the Cross, established in 2009. Uniting the people of God as one family, we are rooted in and empowered by our sacramental life and Eucharistic celebrations. Living as disciples of Jesus Christ, we recognize our God-given potential and challenge one another to share our giftedness, embrace our diversity and engage in social outreach, service and education. In doing so, we seek to extend the reign of God in Euclid and the wider community. St. John of the Cross Parish was formed on November 29, 2009 as part of the reconfiguration of the Cleveland Catholic Diocese by the merging of St. Felicitas and St. Paul parishes. The parish is located at the St. Felicitas Church campus. The parish name was selected by Bishop Richard Lennon from a list of several suggestions compiled from each merging parish. The St. John of The Cross Parish campus consists of four main structures: our church including a gathering area and dividable meeting rooms, a rectory with business offices, the Parish Community Center, and a residential building. We also have an outdoor shrine where early Sunday Mass is celebrated in this beautiful wooded setting during the summer months. There is a set of bocce courts, baseball field, and football/multi-purpose field. The campus is situated on the southernmost border of Euclid, Ohio, bordering Richmond Heights, on approximately nine acres with the buildings surrounded by woodland.
