Message from the Mayor

At the February 2nd City Council Meeting, City Council unanimously adopted the City of Euclid Master Plan.  While this completes the planning process, the work to make it happen is just beginning!  The Master Plan Process was a year-long dynamic process led by the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission.  I want to thank the many residents who were involved in the process and provided input, feedback and suggestions.  The result was a plan that represents our community and offers a vision for a strong and vibrant future.

We went through a very robust process that included public input, public hearings, a steering committee of residents, a project team, online feedback and a Master Plan that includes data on current conditions, visions, goals, action items including suggestions for implementation.  The Goals are organized around key themes: Stay, Prosper, Play, Connect, Engage, and Preserve.  The plan sets out policies for specific character areas such as the Lakefront neighborhoods, central neighborhoods, hilltop neighborhoods, downtown Euclid, neighborhood business centers, suburban centers, industrial core and civic core – as well as identifying core strategy or catalyst areas – that include downtown and lakefront, I-90 corridor, and Euclid Square Mall/ Bluestone Business Park, among others.  I look forward to working with City Council, Directors and staff, as well as, residents and community stakeholders to begin the implementation and realization of our vision.  Stay tuned for updates and progress reports.  If you want to review the Master Plan, it is on our city website www.cityofeuclid.com.

As March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day, I want to take just a minute to recognize the Irish American Club as a valuable member of our Euclid community.  While their certainly activities increase around St. Patrick’s Day, they are busy throughout the year.  The Irish American Club’s mission is to promote the Irish heritage as a family organization and to sponsor social, cultural, educational and athletic programs for its members. Their facility at 22770 Lakeshore Blvd. includes a banquet hall, pub, gathering room and library.  They are involved in the Euclid community and host many community events, fundraisers, and social events.  If are interested in learning more, visit their website at www.eastsideirish.org/ or call 216-731-4003.  A special congratulations to the 2018 Member of Year, Linnea Meaney-- a well-deserved honor!

Happy Spring!  I look forward to seeing the sun, warmer weather, and greening of our city!  A special thanks to the Keep Euclid Beautiful crew who has been working hard (see article to find out how you can get involved) and thanks to YOU for doing your part to make our city look its best!
