New Business Launching With Support from OLL

The Micro-Lending Cohort offers support to entrepreneurs launching new ideas

For more than a year, Our Lady of the Lake has been supporting a micro-lending initiative that helps people with good ideas but no access to funds get resources to start or grow a small business. Based on the concept of the Grameen Bank, and in line with OLL's strong commitment to social justice, this micro-lending project has brought together funding, resources, a strong cohort of community people, a network of professionals and dedicated volunteers to help people in the community help themselves. Together we provide guidance, coaching, professional advice in everything from marketing to bookkeeping and access to financial and community resources. Thanks to generous funding from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, corporate partners such as Huntington Bank and our own generous parishioners, we have been able to make several successful loans and are excited to already be seeing businesses launch and flourish right here in our parish.

We are proud now to introduce our newest micro-lending participant, Lawanda Triplett. Lawanda will be using resources to launch a new commercial cleaning business, building on her years of experience and strong references to go out on her own and grow something new. Please join us in congratulating Lawanda and wishing her success!
