Message from the Mayor

Happy New Year!  I wish each of you joy, good health, and prosperity in the New Year.  It is hard to believe that I have been in office one year already.  Time has flown by.  As I think back about the first year, I am proud of our accomplishments and the hard work and dedication of the City of Euclid employees.  I am grateful for the partnerships and relationships formed to help Euclid succeed.  I am hopeful about our future.

We are working hard every day to make Euclid a vibrant community – where people are proud to live, work and visit.  Together, we work to improve our community, address community needs and plan for our future.  I know the most important thing to our residents, to our businesses and to our visitors is their safety, so I was pleased to swear in Scott Meyer as Euclid Police Chief on December 9th. Chief Scott Meyer has served the Euclid police department for 22 years in various units and leadership positions including patrol, narcotics/vice and detective bureau.

Chief Scott Meyer has proven his leadership, his commitment, his work ethic and his ability to lead the continued development of this premier police department.  He knows that relationships and partnerships are important and he is committed to ensuring the department engages with the community whenever possible.  The challenges are real, but the commitment to both protecting and serving has remained constant and will remain at the core of Chief Meyer’s service as Chief.

In December, the City of Euclid completed the 25th home rehab using Neighborhood Stabilization Funds.  The home at 94 E. 212 Street sat vacant for too many years.  The rehab brings the home to modern standards while maintaining the unique character of the home.  It is truly a gem and will help to strengthen the neighborhood.

In the New Year, I look forward to progress on our Master Plan, continuing to improve our housing and building department and announcing new businesses and development projects.  As always, thank you for your assistance and support of our efforts to strengthen our community.
