African Children's Choir Performs at Kiddie City

African Children's Choir at Kiddie City Winter Fest 2016

Community members who visited Kiddie City Childcare Community on Wednesday, December 14th were in for a holiday treat! The Grammy-nominated African Children’s Choir performed a spirited show of African songs, gospels, and Christmas tunes on the Kiddie City stage.

Per their website, The African Children’s Choir is composed of African children, aged 7 to 10 years old. Many have lost one or both parents through the devastation of war, famine and disease. They represent all the children of a continent and they demonstrate the potential of African children to become strong leaders for a better future in their land.

The concert featured a riveting performance of multiple African Folk songs accompanied with drums, whistles, and choregraphed dancing that had the entire audience clapping and moving along. The children wore vibrant costumes with traditional African prints and patterns along with winning smiles as they entertained the audience.

During the concert, the audience learned more about the mission of the choir through a video presentation. The video explained how the choir offered the children new opportunities that would normally not be offered such as a quality education. The audience was given the ability to donate to the choir and learn how to get more involved.

Along with a captivating performance, the choir attended multiple events throughout their three day stay in Euclid. Kiddie City had its first ever Winter Fest which included crafts, games, holiday snacks, and pictures with Santa Clause. In between studying and rehearsing, the choir made holiday themed crafts. They also joined in on cookie decorating accompanied with hot cocoa. In the gymnasium, the children could play multiple holiday games for prizes. Each child also took a photo with Santa Clause and got their face painted.

The fun did not stop at the Kiddie City Winter Fest. The choir joined Kiddie City staff and their families that night for a trip to Zero Gravity in Eastlake. The children enjoyed food, games, and inflatable bouncy houses.

The African Children’s Choir has warmed the hearts of the Euclid Community, Kiddie City Staff families, and continue to do so across the globe. Kiddie City is honored to have them perform and spend time at our facility. Thank you to the organizers, the staff at Kiddie City, and all who attended!
