A Message from Fr. Joe

As we get near the end of the year, with Thanksgiving just behind us and the Christmas season ahead, it seems important to appreciate all the good things that have happened in our parish and community – and to take a moment to say thank you for all the gifts we’ve received and shared.

OLL parishioners have been busy this year – walking the parish, feeding the hungry, providing supplies for families with young children, hosting blood drives and community groups and so much more. They have helped educate hundreds of children, and supported hundreds more families. They have been a rock right here in our community, but also raised funds and raised awareness for people in need as far away as Africa. These same parishioners have given generously to support Catholic Charities, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, local charities and our own parish – and through those contributions have provided countless services, programs and offerings to seniors, those with disabilities and all the many people in our world who may be facing a challenge and need a helping hand.

More recently, we have launched a new Grameen-inspired micro-lending initiative, that will offer more than a handout, but instead a hand up. We are excited about this new opportunity to offer help and to be a resource in our community. And we know all of these things are only possible thanks to the tremendous generosity, talents and gifts of all the families and friends who call Our Lady of the Lake their school and parish home. Among our students and the adults who parent and mentor them, we see so many signs of hope.

As we move into this glorious season, we are thankful for you all and hopeful for the year to come.
