Ss. Robert & William is Hosting: A Holy and Holistic Approach to Senior Living

Recently, much discussion has taken place regarding the “Silver Tsunami,” which is associated with our senior population.

According to Forbes.com, “One of the biggest mega trends impacting the world today is population aging. By 2020, for the first time in history, the number of older people will outnumber the number of children younger than 5 years of age. In the next 25 years, the number of people older than 65 will double. The average life expectancy is expected to rise to 110 by 2030.”

Knowing the impact these statistics will have on seniors, Fr. John D. Betters, Pastor of Ss. Robert & William Catholic Parish understands the importance of informing and preparing this population for the future.  “I personally have witnessed the struggles, the isolation and the need for preparation via several of our parishioners.  I believe this is a call to action to have this dialogue and to bring awareness to addressing the future needs of this age group,” he states.

On Friday, September 23, 2016 beginning at 9:00 am, Ss. Robert & William Parish (351 East 260th Street, Euclid) will be hosting the program, ‘A Holy and Holistic Approach to Senior Living.’  The day will begin with light refreshments and an information fair which will include a number of vendors with related information.  A series of speakers will be an integral part of the morning.  These include:  Will Schwarber, Greater Cleveland Volunteers; Jennifer Dever, Independent Living; Michael Vujas, Catholic Cemeteries of Cleveland; Mary Louise Ozimek, Catholic Community Foundation, and Susan Richlak, Attorney.  Additionally, Lola Tarasco, RN of Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland, will present a segment on ‘Brain Health Power’, and Father Betters and Renee Barber, Pastoral Associate, will discuss the role that faith plays in one’s life.  A light lunch and social will follow at 12:30 pm.

This event is free and open to the senior community, but reservations are required.  Please call the Parish Office at 216.731.1515 by September 19th for additional information or to reserve a space.
