Message from the Mayor

Happy September!  I want to take a minute to say thank you to John Copic and all the writers who make the Observer happen each month.  John recently held an appreciation party to say thank you to the writers.  I want to extend my appreciation on behalf of the City of Euclid to John and all the writers for providing this important service to our community.  John has worked hard to improve the features in the paper and is continuing to look for ways to improve the paper.   I always open the Euclid Observer with anticipation to see the coverage of local events and read about some of the things happening in our community – it has become a source of information many of us depend on.

As a community owned and written newspaper, the Euclid Observer’s success depends on all of us.  Want to see pictures from your child’s sports events?  Want to share information about your neighborhood?  Want to share information about a community event or meeting?   It is easy to write something – please think about what you might like to see included and join the team!   There is information in the column to the left about how to do that.  I look forward to seeing your contribution!

How else can you stay in touch with what is happening in Euclid?  The City posts news and events on its website:  www.cityofeuclid.com as well as Facebook and Twitter.  Many of the City Council members have an email newsletter – contact your Council rep or the Council office at 289-8123.  Watch Council meeting and committee meetings through ECTV (Channel 20 on Time Warner and Ch. 99 on U-Verse) or view them on line through the euclidlibrary.org website.  Sign up to receive telephone calls about community information and events through “Euclid Connect” by calling City Hall or through the city website.  There are also many neighborhood groups, churches, organizations that have newsletters and check out the reader boards throughout the city.  Join Nextdoor.com, a secure neighborhood email system to get news and information from your neighborhood.

I hope to see you at the Art Walk on September 23rd from 5:00 to 7:00 pm along Lakeshore Blvd. in Downtown Euclid where we will celebrate the winning photographs from the “This is Euclid” photo contest.  Also, mark your calendar for Master Plan Public Hearing on Tuesday, Oct 4 - we would love to have your input as we plan for a strong vibrant future for Euclid!  Visit the 2016 Master Plan website at https://euclidmasterplan.wordpress.com/ to learn more and stay informed on the process and schedule.
