Parks and Rec summer series and events

“I’m bored”..….from the mouth of children everywhere since the last day of school came upon us last month.  Parents are itching to get them out of the house and away from the latest electronics and off their phones for a little bit.  We here at the Euclid Recreation Department are here to help with finding the perfect dose of medicine to cure kids of boredom and laziness this summer.  Along with the traditional programs like basketball, football and swim team; we also have included some nontraditional choices such as soccer, tennis, track and just this year gained a group fitness class allowing the focus on stretching and some core activities.  These programs are for all ages starting from 3 years old and up, to learn more of the specifics please contact the city hall or visit us online at www.cityofeuclid.com or stop by to pick up a program guide and register today.

As a parent myself, I love putting the boys in sports and activities that not only build knowledge of the sport they are in, but also teaching them the importance of what’s entailed in being part of a team and working together.  Confidence, dreams, and goals are being built everyday by kids who have a good coach, mentor, volunteer or someone they feel they can trust and look up to, these characteristics are what will make them the adults they become and have an impact on the road they end up choosing in life.  Sometimes by volunteering today can make a big difference and change a child’s tomorrow. Stop by the city hall or visit us online for anyone Interested in becoming a volunteer or helping out in any way.  You never know the difference you can make.

Some other fun and free activities going on in Euclid starts This July every Thursday at Sims Park.  The summer series is from 6-9pm containing entertainment by local bands to get us up and moving, food trucks to satisfy our snack needs and not to mention the beautiful sunset in the background.  Sounds like a perfect way to enjoy a good time with some family and friends.  So bring your blanket, lawn chairs and put on your dancing shoes.  For a list of the bands scheduled to perform please visit Sims Park summer series online and plan to have a good time.  See you there!
