In an effort to continue the advancement of art and culture, Shore Cultural Centre is pleased to announce the opening of the Euclid School of Music & Theater. The Euclid School of Music provides a positive environment where students of all skill levels, ages and backgrounds are afforded a diverse array of performance and learning opportunities to achieve exceptional results under the guidance of world-class teachers and performers. “Shore Cultural Centre is excited to welcome more music and theater opportunities to the building through the Euclid School of Music,” says Chris Cipriani, Director of Programming and Marketing.
“Performing arts are an important part of a child’s education,” says Darryl Lewis, Director of the Euclid School of Music. There are a number of major benefits to a child that can be achieved through the creative arts. Researchers are now linking involvement in the arts to increased development and higher student achievements. According to Lewis, “One of the most obvious benefits of performing arts is the development of skills in self-presentation, problem solving and confidence.” Participating in the arts allows children to grow their self-esteem and self-confidence, and they will no doubt make lifelong friends with those that share a similar passion for the arts and performance.
Lewis is a celebrated educator, actor, director and musician with advanced degrees in music and acting. He has taught at the Richmond Christian Academy, Cleveland School of the Arts, and currently at Kent State University. He is a member of the Actors Equity Association and leads Praise and Worship at the Aurora United Methodist Church.
“Our goal is to make sure that an education in the performing arts is affordable to anyone that is interested in getting started,” states Lewis. The Euclid School of Music offers FREE monthly Express Yourself classes that are open to the public. Classes cover basics of piano, guitar, acting, voice and other instruments and special topics. As a summer special, The Euclid School of Music offers one free music or acting lesson for first time visitors. It is just our way of making sure this is no obligation trial.
