Message from the Mayor

At the foundation of a strong community is a commitment to community service and giving of oneself.  May brings us several opportunities to celebrate service and remember those who served.

One way we all can help serve our community is by doing our part to keep our community clean.  We are hosting a community wide “Spring Clean Up” week May 2-8.  All residents, businesses, schools, churches, neighborhood associations, beach clubs and community organizations are encouraged to help.  I want to thank the Engage Euclid group for initiating this idea and helping to support our efforts to beautify our City.  Please continue the effort past this week and we will all benefit from a cleaner, better looking city.  For more information, please call 289-8268.

We are fortunate to have many community organizations serving our community and I have been honored to attend many events in the last couple of months to help support these efforts and recognize their volunteers and service to our community.  Your involvement can make a difference - whether it is through your neighborhood association, school PTAs, Church or faith community, Euclid Hunger Center, Euclid Hospital, Friends of the Henn Mansion, Mary Mavec, Euclid Historical Society, Pets Pals, Shore Cultural Centre, Boy Scouts/ Girl Scouts, or sports groups like Euclid Boys League, Euclid Youth Soccer, Euclid Hockey, City Recreation Department, Senior Programs, and the many others not named.  Volunteers help us create a stronger more vibrant Euclid.  Getting involved provides a great personal benefit, but also service to our community.  If you are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities, please call my office at 289-2751.

The ultimate service is serving one’s country.  Memorial Day will be celebrated Monday, May 30 with our annual Memorial Day parade at 10:00 am and services at Euclid Cemetery (7:45am) and St. Paul’s (8:15am), and Euclid Veterans Memorial (following the parade) sponsored by our Euclid Joint Veteran’s Council.  Please join me in honoring those who fought for our country and our freedom by participating in these activities.  A special thank you to all our veterans and their family members for your service and support of our community.  Euclid would not be the community we are today without the leadership, service, and sacrifice of these men and women.

Happy Memorial Day!
