Message from the Mayor

Happy Spring!  With the brighter days comes the need for some spring cleaning!  We are working to put together a Citywide cleanup week and hope that residents, businesses and city staff will come together to help us spruce up our city.  We will be working to pick up litter but also planting trees, looking at ways to dress up empty store fronts, landscaping, and more.  We all should have pride in our homes, businesses, and neighborhoods and my administration wants to share the responsibility for keeping it clean and looking good.  Please help us by doing your part!  If you have ideas or want to help, please contact my office at 216-289-2751.

Soon, I will have completed 100 days as Mayor.  I am proud to say that all positions are filled, we have a budget and department goals in place, and have been looking at ways to improve our level of service and responsiveness.  I have very much enjoyed meeting with local businesses and commercial brokers, neighborhood and community groups, and talking with residents about their concerns and ideas.  I have had the opportunity to participate in Mayors and Manager Association, NOACA, and regional planning efforts where I have continued to build relationships necessary for strong partnerships.  We have much to do, but I am proud of what we have accomplished to date.

National Arbor Day is Friday April 29th.  The Euclid Shade Tree Commission holds an event each year and plants a tree to honor a community member.  This year, the Shade Tree Commission will be planting 2 trees to honor former Mayor Bill Cervenik and retired Police Captain Ralph Doles who recently passed away.  Please join us for the Arbor Day Ceremony on Friday 4/29 at 6:00 pm at Euclid City Hall.

We are also busy planning for our community events this summer in partnership with the Euclid Chamber of Commerce and Shore Cultural Centre.  We will be holding the Euclid Wind Fest on Saturday June 25th and hosting summer concerts at Sims Park each Thursday in July.  These events offer an opportunity to enjoy our beautiful lakefront and get to know our neighbors.   We are counting on community support to host these events, if you would like to help support these great community events please let us know.

As always, I value your input and involvement.  Please feel free to contact me at khgail@cityofeuclid.com or 216-289-2751.
