Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) shot putter Rashida Harris, a graduate of Euclid High School, registered an All-American performance at the 2016 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Harris became Tri-C’s first All-American in the shot put with a throw of 48 feet, 1.25 inches. The championships capped a season where she shattered the school record in the event by almost 9 feet.

The freshman also finished 19th at nationals in the weight throw with a heave of 40 feet, 2.25 inches. She also set the Tri-C record in that event during the season.

“Rashida was at her absolute best on the sport’s biggest stage,” said Don Cox, the College’s longtime track coach. “She delivered when it mattered most.”

As a team, Tri-C finished 19th at the national championships.
