Greeting from the Mayor

Happy New Year!  I am truly honored to have been elected to serve as the City of Euclid’s 14th Mayor.  I want to thank all of those who helped make this possible, especially the voters of Euclid for their confidence in me.  I also want to thank Mayor Bill Cervenik for his leadership and service to the City of Euclid for the past 12 years.

It has been my honor and privilege to serve Euclid in various capacities for the last 20 years.   I began my career in Euclid at Euclid Community Concerns.  The mission of that organization was to create a model community where citizens of all races and backgrounds live together in harmony.  My work on City Council and involvement with community, neighborhood, and school organizations allowed me to continue that work.  The constant themes throughout these roles has been working to build strong neighborhoods, help engage residents and stakeholders, build on our strengths, and promote the positives found in Euclid – working to create that model community.  I will continue to make those themes cornerstones of my administration.

I have had the opportunity to meet and talk with residents and businesses across the city.  I have heard their concerns and their dreams for Euclid.  Some look back to the Euclid of yesterday, some look forward to what Euclid can be.  I believe our past offers us a great platform from which to build.  Euclid has been a place for those looking for something better, a community of innovation, a community built by the ideas/ involvement of residents.  While our society has changed in many ways – the need for safe neighborhoods, quality education, thriving business and industry, and services and programs to enhance our lives continues now more than ever.

I believe that Euclid can again be a first choice suburb – a place we all can be proud to live, work or visit.  I look forward to working with the new City Council as well as community organizations, businesses, faith communities, and residents to achieve this vision.  I know if we work together, we can accomplish great things. I look forward to the opportunities ahead.

May 2016 bring happiness, good health, and prosperity to you and the City of Euclid.

Happy New Year!
