New Art Studio Offers Summer Camps, Paint Your Own Pottery, Wine and Canvas, and More!

Eileen Sheehan of Create-A-Craft

Local artist Eileen Sheehan is creating a buzz in her hometown of Euclid. She has recently opened an art studio in a classroom at Shore Cultural Centre that offers people of all ages to come and explore their creativity through all types of art. Sheehan shares, "I wanted to create a welcoming environment where anyone can go to discover ways of expressing their creativity, learn something new, and enjoy making something unique." Sheehan received a B.F.A in art education from Ohio University in 2008 and has been teaching at the high school and elementary levels since. She has been teaching pottery at Shore Cultural Centre to adults since 2011 and has spent the last four years as the art teacher at Our Lady of the Lake School in Euclid.  She has recently moved out of the traditional classroom to focus on her new business at Shore in an effort to make the arts more accessible to the community. "Through implementation of my private after school art class called CANVAS at Our Lady of the Lake School, I realized the interest for deeper arts education in the community and wanted to offer more options for all ages," says Sheehan. "CANVAS was a wonderful experience for our daughter.  She learned new techniques and was able to apply her skills in a variety of projects.  Most of all, she developed confidence.  She was so proud of her final watercolor painting - we framed it!" -Anne Brown, Mom of Caroline, age 8.

Create-A-Craft will offer many different classes and workshops open to all ages. Expected to be most popular is the Saturday open studio for paint your own pottery. Students can explore color and design options and receive any guidance from the staff they need to create their piece. Create-A-Craft will also offer wine and canvas classes where participants can bring their own wine and snacks and learn step by step how to create a specific painting. Private parties are also offered. Sheehan expands on this offering, "I really want to cater my classes to my clients so that they are meaningful and engaging. If your family has a special place you vacation and want to paint an image of that place together, I can create a class for you where you come in as a family to paint the picture of that special vacation spot. If you are getting married soon and are looking for a girl's night out, we can design a painting around your wedding theme for you and your bridal party to paint, creating a commemorative work of art for each of you to take home."

Registration for Create-A-Craft's weekly summer art camps for children ages 8 and up is happening now! Summer camps are held weekly M-F 10am-12pm. Each camp is a week long, offering exploration of many different art mediums. Sheehan explains, "All of my camps are intended to inspire and instill a creative spark within your child! Not only will your child be learning new art making techniques, but they will have artistic and creative control over what they are making. I combine a high quality classroom experience with lots of fun!" Space is limited for these camps and they are expected to fill up fast. There are great deals going on too! Sign up for two camps at once, save $50! Sign up for the whole summer, get a $200 discount and a personalized tote! More detailed information regarding summer camp schedule, prices, and to fill out a registration form can be found on their website at www.create-a-craft.com.
