Sixth Grade Rocks at Our Lady of the Lake
As part of an enriched curriculum, Our Lady of the Lake School takes advantage of some of Cleveland's array of cultural offerings, to offer their students new educational opportunities. The sixth graders at Our Lady of the Lake recently enjoyed an insightful fieldtrip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Their adventure began with an interesting class entitled “The Message: the Birth of Hip-Hop Culture.” This historical and musical journey started in the 1970’s in the Bronx, New York. The students could follow the early musicians with their themes of social justice. They enjoyed listening to the music and seeing how the innovative technology of the time challenged traditional music.
After the class, the students explored the Hall of Fame exhibits. They were delighted to see and hear familiar items and were surprised by all the new things they discovered.
