Click It For A Ticket

Vince & Larry, the Crash Test Dummies, with EHS Students.

Students who decided to "click it" when they got in their cars Wednesday morning got more than they bargained for as they pulled into the High School parking lot. Officer Bonchak, the Euclid Police Department, Mr. Nick Selvaggio and his Public Safety Class rewarded students who were buckled with a raffle ticket to win $108 and a water bottle compliments of State Farm and our local agent Andre Payton.

A few weeks ago, Euclid Police Officer Ed Bonchak and the EHS Public Safety Class taught by Mr. Nick Selvaggio begain a public safety campaign to promote the wearing of seatbelts, called "Click It For A Ticket." Twelve local schools are competing in this program sponsored by Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital Injury Prevention Unit. Euclid High School students made posters, took surveys on why they do or do not wear a seat belt, and posted 108 reasons why people should wear seatbelts.

Two very special visitors, Vince and Larry the "Crash Test Dummies" even came to help promote the program. The culmination event on Wednesday included having students take a post survey regarding seat belt usage, as well as signing a pledge to wear their seat belts. Mr. Selvaggio was excited to share that, "we definitely noticed an increase in seat belt usage among the students, some (students) actually pointed to their seat belts to show that they remembered to buckle up."
