Produce to People: Looking for free, fresh produce?

On June 25, 2012, Ss. Robert & William Catholic Parish, The Euclid Hunger Center and The Cleveland Foodbank joined forces to distribute 10,000 pounds of fresh produce. This program, sponsored by the Foodbank, receives produce from the Northern Ohio Food Terminal, Feeding America, Ohio growers and processors, and other suppliers and retailers; a truck of fresh produce was delivered and distributed to community members within a few hours of delivery.

This day’s distribution included items such as fresh watermelon, cabbage, zucchini, carrots, turnip greens, apples, bakery and bread.

Fr. John D. Betters, Pastor of Ss. Robert and William Parish, states “We were delighted to be chosen as a site for this distribution and pleased to have so much volunteer assistance.”  Volunteers who manned the operation were from the Parish, The Euclid Hunger Center, Euclid Hospital and other local volunteers.

Future Produce to People distributions will take place from 4:00-6:00p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2012 and August 27, 2012 at Ss. Robert & William Catholic Parish, 367 East 260th St., Euclid. Recipients must simply sign an income eligibility form when they arrive.  For additional information regarding the program, please call 216.731.1515.
