Action CARSTAR Collision and Villa Angela-St. Joseph volleyball teams participate in national car wash fundraiser

Abracadabra! Action CARSTAR Collision and the Villa Angela-St. Joseph volleyball team, along with CARSTAR stores and their partners across the United States and Canada, have once again made magic happen for children in need across North America. Themed “Making Magic Happen – One Car at a Time,” the Soaps It Up Car Wash took place throughout North America June 12 as a fundraiser for cystic fibrosis in Canada and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America in the U.S., as well as select local charities.

Volleyball team members began selling tickets in May. Customers could also purchase the $10 tickets at Action CARSTAR Collision, located at 21200 St. Clair Avenue. Half the proceeds went to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and half to support VASJ volleyball. The event raised over $1,200 locally thanks to more than 25 energetic VASJ volleyball team members, coaches and Action CARSTAR staff. This was the second year Action and VASJ have teamed up.  Initial numbers show that CARSTAR washed some 4,100 cars at more than 140 locations across the United States and Canada, raising more than $40,000 nationally.  This surpasses the world record that CARSTAR set in 2009 by washing 4,000 cars in an eight-hour period.

“Coach Mark Royer, Viking team captain Shayla Lang and the rest of the volleyball team members were amazing … they were like a soap machine!” said Cheryl Cameron, marketing rep for Action CARSTAR Collision. “The group worked again this year almost non-stop for six hours … that shows real dedication and commitment.”
