Saint John of the Cross Parish Reaches Out to Visitors through “Bring Someone to Church Sunday”
9:00 AM
Saint John of the Cross Catholic Parish at 140 Richmond Road in Euclid is asking parishioners to invite a friend to Mass for a special “Welcome and Return” weekend on September 17 and 18. This evangelization outreach called Operation Andrew: “Bring Someone to Church Sunday” is intended for those who have been on the hearts of parishioners or those who haven’t attended church in a while.

“We hope that you accept this as your invitation to join us, to discover the love in our parish, Saint John of the Cross, or to rediscover the truth, wonder and mystery of our Catholic faith,” says Father Sal. “If you are looking for a new parish home, if you have been hurt by or feel excluded from the Church, if you attend Mass only at Christmas and Easter, or if you have fallen into the habit of not attending Mass for some reason, we want you back and look forward to welcoming you and worshipping with you.”

The “Welcome and Return” Masses, sponsored by the Evangelization Committee, will be held on Saturday, September 17 at 4 p.m. or Sunday, September 18 at 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. The priest will welcome visitors at each Mass and lead in a special prayer. Visitors will receive a gift bag that includes the cd “Knowing Jesus,” the book “Rediscovering Catholicism” by Matthew Kelly and other items. There will be greeters, refreshments and additional parish information in the gathering area after the masses.

Father Sal adds, “We are just not the same without you! Regardless of why you have left or why you got out of the habit of attending Mass, you can always come home. You might even be considering becoming Catholic. Our door is always open, and we want to help you in any way that we can. We want to welcome you, support you, and to help you to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ. The first step is always the most difficult ... but we are here for you to walk with you on your journey.”
